We begin with a curtesy 20-minute conversation to become better acquainted with you or your child’s strengths and challenges. During this conversation we will go over a sensory checklist to measure the support required and decide which assessment package is right for you.
All assessments include a standardised assessment tool such as the AASH (Adult/Adolescent Sensory History) SPM (Sensory Processing Measure) and Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile. This information is then analysed and strategies are provided in a written report.
Standardized assessments in occupational therapy are essential tools that provide a window into understanding one’s sensory presentation. They create evidence that guides the development of strategies, interventions and adaptations. However, they can’t tell you everything. This is why it is vital to have a therapist with the knowledge and clinical experience to unravel the complexities that often accompany sensory processing disorders.
As sensory challenges are often exacerbated by mental health impairments and trauma, we use a bottom up approach to unpick what lies beneath the surface. This type of thorough and in depth assessment will identify what is causing distress and will create a baseline of need ensuring bespoke interventions are designed.
In our most in-depth assessment packages, additional tools are provided, where we may also investigate such things as Alexithymia, Trauma-Informed Care, Pathological Demand Avoidance, Executive Functioning etc.
Our fees reflect the hours necessary to complete an assessment and report. The level of detail and analysis influences the overall cost
This is not a generic “one size fits all,” corner-cutting process.
We offer a bespoke service providing undivided attention to one client at a time.

Using a * Sensory Integration Framework (established by Jean Ayres) helps us to identify sensory processing disorders (SPD) to create interventions to increase function and engagement in activities of daily living.
This standard occupational therapy assessment considers the child’s activities of daily living and any challenges associated with participation. Areas may include independent living skills, coordination and gross motor planning, fine motor, executive functioning etc.
This assessment will also explore the child’s strengths and challenges using a Sensory Integration (SI) Framework. Using an SI Framework allows the therapist to focus on the interaction between the sensory systems and how they provide information that contributes toward their learning and adaptive behaviours. Through a sensory lens, we will assess how your child receives, sorts, and processes sensory information in their daily lives.
Using standardized and non-standardized assessments, our reports provide a plethora of evidence based strategies and adaptations to assist your child with doing the things they want and/or need to do!
This bespoke report is approximately 10-20 pages long
This package includes:
A remote pre-assessment consultation to discuss developmental history, current concerns and your primary goals regarding this evaluation

Additional areas to be assessed may include independent living skills, executive functioning, gross and fine motor skills, etc. We will look at areas of concern during the pre-assessment consultation (A total of three assessment tools will be considered for the report). As each individual is unique, assessment tools will vary from person to person.
Clinical observations (based on Ayres’ Structured Clinical Observations) are conducted. These informal activities assess fine motor, gross motor, bilateral, praxis, sensory processing, modulation and discrimination to further the discovery process. (This is conducted via Zoom if outside the Sheffield area). Approximately 40-60 minutes
A written report with recommendations, strategies and adaptations for home and community settings.
This assessment is the most robust in our service offerings for children and adolescents. Recommended to be used as evidence of need to support EHCP, Tribunals, DLA or any official capacity. Legally binding and written to tribunal standards.

As each child is unique, the tools that are used will vary from child to child
Classroom observations are conducted
Structured Clinical Observations are also conducted in school (play based activities assessing fine motor, gross motor, bilateral, praxis, sensory processing, modulation) to further the discovery process
Information is analysed and a 20-30 page report (approximate) will be issued. The report will include strategies for home, school, and community. The report is written to tribunal standards and is legally binding should it be required as evidence of need

Neurodivergent staff often require management of their sensory environment. Understanding the impact on their performance is the first step in empowering individuals in the work place.
Using sensory assessment tools and clinical observations will help to identify sensory preferences and triggers. We will focus on identifying areas within the workplace that can cause stress, anxiety or overwhelm. Bespoke strategies and accommodations will help to reduce distress and discomfort in the work environment.

This assessment is the most robust in our service offerings for adults. Recommended to be used as evidence of need to support PIP applications. It is written to tribunal standards and can be used to support PIP hearings or in any other official capacity
An adult sensory assessment is helpful for individuals to understand how they process sensory information and how this impacts their daily life. This understanding can be crucial for developing strategies to manage sensory sensitivities, improve daily functioning, and enhance overall well-being. This in depth assessment is an excellent way to inform universities, employers and others of your additional support needs in one bespoke document
Using a ‘bottom up’ approach (A bottom-up approach to assessment focuses on analysing individual components or building blocks of a skill or function, working up from the smallest parts to the whole) the assessment considers ones presentation from various angles. As sensory processing challenges are often present with co-morbid features such as anxiety and depression, demand avoidance, trauma etc, it is necessary to consider ‘the big picture’ by unpicking the behaviours that compromise participation (doing the things we want and/or need to do). Knowing where the impairments stem from assists in identifying a baseline of need which creates bespoke strategies.
